The September Mission Offering is for AMOS, a Ministry of Sharing Health and Hope. This program is run by ABC medical missionaries, Drs. David and Laura Parajon based in Managua, Nicaragua. Laura and David and their three children have been one of the gracious hosts for the UBC delegations to Nicaragua. Those on the trips have heard first hand from them of their great successes and challenges in their work to respond to the health needs in the rural communities of this country. They work to empower the Nicaraguan people to run their own community clinics in order to spread quality health care for all. In order to do this, they run community census to ensure everyone is reached. Their program includes education, prevention and treatments. Please give generously during the month of September. |

Help needed for Pakistan flood victims: Large numbers of people in all four of Pakistan's provinces have been driven from their homes in the area's worst flooding in more than 80 years. Church World Service Pakistan staff are working urgently to provide the basics — food packages, shelter materials and non-food essentials — to families in need. And CWS medical teams and mobile health facilities are helping to provide emergency health services. Church World Service has worked in Pakistan for more than five decades. Based on assessments conducted by its staff and local partners, CWS is planning to provide emergency food assistance to 35,000 people, emergency shelter supplies to meet the needs of 17,500 people, and mobile health access for 17,500 people. The food packages consist of rice, wheat flour, beans, sugar, cooking oil, tea and salt — basics for a family for a month. The shelter kits include a winterized tent and plastic sheeting. Can you help us respond to these emergency needs with the compassion of a neighbor? Please give what you can today. Thank you for caring.
Those interested specifically in helping people in Pakistan can do so either by sending donations to Church World Service directly, or by donating to the One Great Hour of Sharing offering and marking their checks and the envelope for Pakistan flood relief. Contributions to support this work may also be made online at www.churchworldservice.org or by phone (800-297-1516) or sent to Church World Service, P.O. Box 968, Elkhart, IN 46515.
