University Baptist Church is a member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists. This means that UBC welcomes gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people into full membership and participation in the life of the congregation. It also means that UBC supports full equality and inclusion of GLBT people in the broader society. UBC was the first Baptist Church ever to call an openly lesbian pastor, the Rev. Nadean Bishop, who served as pastor from 1992-2000.

University Baptist Church is a member of the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America. This means we support efforts to establish social justice, to end racism and poverty, and to work for peace.

Our intention at University Baptist church is to use inclusive language in our worship. We seek to use language and images in worship that acknowledge male and female aspects of God, and acknowledge the presence and contributions of women in church and society. In the 1980's UBC created and still uses its own inclusive language hymnal. UBC was the first Baptist Church in Minnesota to call a woman senior pastor.

UBC's main (sanctuary) level is fully wheelchair accessible. Overall, the building is 90% wheelchair accessible.
